Offset Post-Frame Wall System for Added Strength
American Eagle Buildings uses a unique offset wall system that effectively locks your structure together for enhanced durability. Our laminated columns are built using only #1 Southern Yellow Pine and are constructed with a minimum of two 2x6s and one 2x8 for added strength. Sidewall girts are precision-cut to fit securely into the offset column and are then fastened in place, creating a more integrated structure rather than one that relies on fasteners alone.
Each truss is set into a pocket within the wall column, resting on the center 2x8 laminate. The truss is secured with nails and reinforced with two 5/8-inch bolts through both the column and truss, providing a strong, reliable connection.
Secure Column Installation Process
For ground-set applications, American Eagle uses treated laminated columns that are embedded directly into the earth. Each column is placed in an 18-inch augered hole, drilled 48 inches deep, then cleaned and compacted. A minimum of 60 pounds of dry-mix concrete is added, along with a 9-inch steel rod at the base of the column for additional stability. The column is then surrounded with more concrete, backfilled, and tamped to ensure a solid foundation.
When a project requires columns to be mounted on concrete, we utilize steel brackets that allow the wall columns to be securely bolted to the foundation.
Quality Materials and Structural Reinforcement
No matter the building type or design, American Eagle uses #1 Southern Yellow Pine 2x6s for sidewall girts rather than smaller whitewood 2x4s. We also incorporate engineered wood X-bracing and box bracing in the roof system to enhance structural strength while maintaining a clean, professional appearance.
